Rain, Hail and a VW driver

July 3, 2007

I thought the rain and hail was bad….

And then the nice lady in the VW came so close I could tap on the window to get her to move out…. she did not.

  1. Thanks for for reminding me why I moved to California. We have bad drivers but at least the weather is good (all bar Jan/Feb) so you can see who’s going to run you over.

Your personal safety notwithstanding, the nice lady in the VW probably also crossed the dual white line she was trying to avoid crossing (or maybe it was the on-coming traffic she was trying to avoid hitting … rather than you?).
I couldn’t quite read the number plate … do the police accept video evidence?

  4. The number plate is clearly visible in the full video. W415 RRE I somehow doubt the Police will be interested. After all I’m only a cyclist, but we will see….

  5. And the answer from Surre Police is that there is nothing they can do as there is no independent witness.
So motorists are free to do what they want to endanger other road users.

  6. Our local fuzz will sometimes track someone down and warn them, even if they can’t prosecute.

Isn’t video evidence good enough ?
isn’t this what they tell us all the CCTV cameras are for ?

  8. There is much doubt about the admissibility of video evidence. However I did get a phone call from a real Police Officer last week, as opposed to the operator who spoke to me on the day. The officer is going to have a word with the owner of the vehicle.
