Shared shell. Very cool.

March 28, 2007

If you work for Sun, or are a Sun Spectrum customer and ever want to share a login session with someone else while doing your work then check out the shared shell: http://www.sun.com/123.

For collaboration with people in Sun it is fantastic whether you are both in Sun or a customer and Sun. (I suspect that two customers could use the same thing to collaborate as well , I could see nothing in the T’s & Cs that would forbid that but I am not a Lawyer). I particularly like the ability to “write” on the screen.

  1. Glad you like the new standalone Shared Shell.
Eventually, we’re going to tighten up Shared Shell to require at least one participant with an @sun.com email address to start a conference.

  2. I’m not sure that the restriction is worth it. If customers start using shared shell to do other things then that can only be a good thing. One more reason to have a support contract.
