Maidenhead and Windsor

October 15, 2006

A request for a flat ride was made which meant out to Maidenhead over the bridge, craining my neck to get a good view of Brunel’s magnificent bridge and back to Windsor for breakfast. The problem with flat rides is that there are plenty scope for sprints or very fast riding. This was made easier for some by slip streaming the car that was being towed by and AA van that was sticking at a steady 30mph. Those fast flat roads around Windsor just ask for a group of cyclists to wind up the speed until people are spat out the back, the bigger riders able to push the speeds up and up, topping out at 42.7mph on one stretch, I was clinging on just.

The usual stop at the Top Ten Cafe than back via Staines going past all the riders doing the Palace to Palace bike ride.

63 miles average speed 17.1mph top speed 42.7mph. Hills: none.
